Art exhibit gives voice to adults with autism
Groups stress need for more programming that will help those affected after age 21
Bright paintings, photographs and drawings line the walls of two galleries at the Johns Hopkins University Montgomery County. With the exception of three photographs, all were created by adults with autism. For Prince, who has a 22-year-old son with autism, the art show gives the public an opportunity to see the abilities of people with autism.
And 33 individuals proved themselves.
“There’s a lot we need to deal with as a society,” Prince said. “And I think this art can give people an unintimidating way of getting a glimpse of what these people can bring to individuals.”
The exhibit runs through June 1 at 9605 Medical Center Drive, Rockville. by Alison Bryant, Gazette.Net Staff Writer abryant@gazette.net
