Rights for children vs. rights for adults with disabilities | Autism Support Network

Child vs. Adult Disability Rights and Services

Autism is considered a neurological condition, as well as a 'developmental' disability.

You may know a lot about the medical/clinical aspects of Autism. But, you also need to know your Rights as a Person with a Disability(PWD). You may be surprised to learn that disability terms, special services, accommodations, etc... change as you age and depending on what are your adult pursuits(i.e., college, work, housing, suppoert, services,...)

How does the 1990 ADA protect me as a Person with a Disability?

What does the Rehabilitation Act provide for me as a Person with A Disability?

Is Section 504(Rehab Act) applicable for children and adults with disabilities?

How does the term 'disability' change criteria once PWDs are Adults?

Does the EEOC cover PwDs?

What happens when PWDs 'age out' of high school?

Will IDEA follow me to age 21?

What happens if a PWD choses vo-tech instead of college?

Does FAPE apply to PWDs in college?
