ACT NOW to Support Funding for 200 New Opportunities Waiver Slots

Governor Jindal is currently preparing his Executive Budget for the upcoming fiscal year. He must hear from you about the need for additional New Opportunities Waiver (NOW) slots by Friday, February 8th.

 

Include the following: "Please include the 200 additional New Opportunities Waiver slots DHH requested in your Executive Budget. Over 9,600 Louisiana citizens with developmental disabilities are waiting over 8 years for waiver services that will allow them to remain in their homes as opposed to more costly congregate care."

 

Briefly share your current situation: For example, "My child has been on the waiver waiting list for 5 years"; or, "I receive waiver services but I know many others who have been waiting for many years." You can also include how receiving waiver services would benefit you or others who have been waiting.
